Terror — 2017

by Bro. Tiemann

DID YOU KNOW ISIS terror is the precursor to the Antichrist?

Imagine your town invaded by a rogue Islamist military group. They manage to defeat your local law enforcement force and barbarically behead the leaders in your local government. They then announce their new Islamic government enforcing Sharia law. This leaves you and the other members of the community with a choice: Convert to Islam or face the sword (unless you have money to pay the jizyah poll tax under the "dhimma" contract; and you must pay in gold).

That's exactly what ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has done through vast swaths of northern Iraq and Syria over the past several years. Their plans are to establish an Islamic caliphate, or state across the region.

Many Christians are wondering if ISIS is a sign of the end-times. ISIS has attracted a lot of attention due to its brutal tactics in gaining and maintaining control of conquered territory. ISIS trained lone wolves are also attracting attention across the globe. A good example is Salman Abedi, the 22-year-old who blew himself up killing 22 other people at a pop concert in Manchester England May 22. Early reports said that ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.

On Friday, May 26, twenty eight Coptic Christians were gunned down by militant Muslim jihadists. Dressed in military fatigues, the gunman waved down, a bus filled with Christian pilgrims as it made its way down a dusty side-road in the desert of western Egypt, headed toward a monastery. Claiming to be security forces, the gunman ordered the passengers to get out. They separated the men from the women and children, and instructed them to surrender their mobile phones. They told the men to recite the shahada, the Islam declaration of faith. When the men refused, the gunmen opened fire. At least 28 people were killed, several with a single shot to the head, according to Egyptian authorities and relatives of the victims, several whom were children. After the attack, Donald Trump issued a statement decrying the "merciless slaughter of Christians" and vowed to crush "evil organizations of terror."

Revelation 20:4. ISIS's murder of Middle Eastern Christians has been particularly heinous. The way ISIS has been beheading Christians (and other victims) reminds many Christians of Revelation 20:4, which predicts the manner of execution the Antichrist will use during the tribulation: "And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God.”

There is no Biblical prophecy that explicitly predicts the rise of ISIS. Jesus did say there would be an increase of wars and rumor of wars. Christ also prophesied that Christians in the end-times would be hunted down and martyred in all nations of the world. Let's read; "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake" (Matthew 24:9). Therefore, what ISIS is doing to Christians in the Middle East is a "preview" of what the Antichrist will soon be doing to them world-wide.

Yes, the rise of ISIS is a possible sign of the end-times. It is also possible that ISIS persecution against Christians in the Middle East is being financed and orchestrated by a hidden evil force that is just using radical Muslims to do their dirty work. But, presently, the world is united against ISIS. Does that unity set the stage for a global government, as predicted in Scripture? Could the world being united against ISIS eventually lead to the rise of the greatest evil the world will ever see, the Antichrist? If I was a betting man, I would have to say yes!!! "And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them...” (Revelation 13:7).
